Christmas 2009

Like everyone else we have had some crazy busy weeks! Both of the boys had Christmas programs...here is Conner at his. I recorded the kids singing but my computer is being very slow, so I am unable to upload them.

Conner was sooo excited when I showed up he ran up to me and had to hug me. I thought it was cute. Then he kept waving to me while he was singing. :)
Here is Covin's concert. It was really cute. He is the one in the green shirt in the middle. The auditorium gets packed, so unless you want to get there over an hour early you have to sit in the back. The pictures didn't turn out good at all!
So the night before Christmas I had to work from 6pm until midnight. So I wanted to hand out with the boys and let them open their new PJ's. They were so excited to open a present, but disappointed that they could only open one!

MY BOYS!!!
Me and my honey!

So the night before Christmas the boys left Santa a snack. Shaffen took a picture and texted me at work, "I hope Santa is hungry!" Apparently the boys had their own ideas of what Santa would want! Covin got Santa a Diet Pepsi and some cookies. Conner got him Chocolate milk, a cheese square, and a little Debbie's chocolate Christmas tree. And they both agreed on Carrots for the reindeer! I thought it was hilarious! I called the boys before they went to bed and Conner was freaking out! He did not want Santa in his house. He told me that Santa was going to come in and break Covin's trophies and tear down the ceiling fan. I don't know where that came from! Anyways, I convinced him that Santa would be leaving the presents in the garage. Whatever would make him sleep!!!! :)
Covin woke up about 8am and couldn't wait much longer! So after 5 minutes I got Conner up. He was a little nervous....so I told him that I got the presents out of the garage and put them under the tree!
They were sooo excited to see that Santa actually ate all of their snacks and left a few crumbles and a squished Pepsi can! They crack me up!

Posing one last time before tearing into the presents!
Boy are they spoiled. Conner got drums and Covin got maracas. Surprisingly enough Conner can actually play pretty good. He played jingle bells and we could totally tell that was what he was playing! They now have a band. Conner is definitely in control of the music. He tells Covin what to do and Covin does it!
We had a really great Christmas...no rushing around and just being with each other! The kids had not one complaint...well only the fact that we were not opening the boxes fast enough!

Today I asked my sister to take pictures of us for me. We haven't had any good ones for a long time. These are a few!

Shaffen and I hardly ever take pictures together!
My oh so handsome boys!!! They are soo CUTE!
Shaffen has been watching a lot of football lately. The boys LOVE football! I think they look so cute in their "Mad bird" shirts. Conner has always told us that that bird is mad.
For a few months we have been traveling to Tucson to get some tests done on Shaffen to see if he needed to have surgery done to fix his problem with acid reflux. We had seen the surgeon and he wanted Shaffen to have further testing done to make sure that his problem was for sure just acid reflux. We had everything done and the final test results were taking forever. We called the office in Tucson because it had been 3 weeks and we had heard nothing. We called and called. Finally, on December 15th the surgeon called and had spoke with the other Dr. and got the test results. He then called Shaffen and told him if he wanted the surgery he would do it the next morning! So we talked about it and decided to got through with it! Thankfully things worked out and Shaffen's mom was able to help with the kids for a few days. (I took my final on December 15th at 1pm. I passed the class with an A!!!!!! Only 2 more semesters to go!!!) We both called into work for the next day. And he had surgery at 8am the next morning! It was all really rushed and we were not really all that prepared for it, but our deductible was met ($5,000) for the year and we sorta felt the pressure. He needs to be on meds daily that cost $300 a month and we cannot afford it. He was choking on food and was having a lot of problems. We felt like this would be the best decision. It has been really rough on him. For 10 days after the surgery he had to have only CLEAR LIQUIDS, not only clear liquids but it all had to be at room temperature too! It was torture! He did really good. I felt so bad for him and was sneaking away to eat food cause I didn't want him to have to see me. Christmas night he was able to advance to soft food. We had dinner with Rachel's family and Nikki and the boys. He was sooo excited to eat mashed potatoes! Rachel made him a chocolate pie and I made him a cheesecake (it is soft right!!) I kept smiling cause I know how hard it has been on him. He has dropped close to 20 pounds! I was dying laughing tonight....we had mashed potatoes and he wanted corn and some turkey too. I had to blend it all up in the gravy. It looked soooo disgusting. Seriously like vomit! He is so determined to eat that he ate it anyways! He told me that he just can't look at it and he will be fine! It was so sad! :)
It will all be worth it in the end when he is all healed up! The break has been nice so far...if I would have been in school still it would have been a nightmare! Good timing! He will be home and off work for 4 to 6 weeks! We were surprised by that but the Doctor knows what he is doing! We are so grateful for everyone who has gone out of their way for us! There are to many names to mention but we have great friends and family! (plus I don't want to forget anyone!)
