At work yesterday I had a crazy experience......6 years ago, before I had any kids, I was riding with Shaffen on a Friday night. There were 4-5 officers on that night. We saw all of them in Daley Estates hanging out at the gas station. Shaffen stopped talked for a few minutes and then we left. While we were driving away we saw a truck full of kids going down the road. There were probably 6 or more kids in the back. He considered pulling them over, but changed his mind. Not even 1-2 minutes passed by when another officer got on the radio and called out a wreck. We both got really sick to our stomach because we thought it was all of those kids. We turned around and drove back to where the officers were originally. Anyways when we got there, there was a pick up truck and a car that had collided. The car had a 16 year old driver who was drunk and had been huffing paint, with him was his girlfriend who was 14. The other truck had an older man. The kid was driving 75 + when he ran the stop sign and hit this truck. The officers that were hanging out saw the whole thing, and 2 of them had to move their cars so they did not get hit. The older man was ejected and killed instantly. When Shaffen and I got their we were told that the girl was dead also. So while I was trying to find a pair of gloves I wanted to make sure the girl did not have a pulse. One of the officers checked and then asked me to. When I reached into the car I decided to sit her back into the seat to stabilize her neck. I held her there for a minute and then all of the sudden she took a HUGE breath! I freaked out! It was scary to me. The car was a complete mess, the fire department came and had to use the jaws of life to cut both of them out. I had to stay because they didn't want anyone else to switch me, just in case. After getting cut up by the glass and my pants being eaten by battery acid, one of the firefighters gave me his jacket. Anyways I have been traumatized by this for a long time. Because I work in the ER I don't experience on scene things. The ambulance tried to get me to work for them for a while! There is no way, I didn't like that one bit. So over the course of months we would call the hospital in Tucson to check up on her. She had bilateral broken femurs and also broke both of her legs below the knee. She had some brain damage and had to have a trach. Anyways over the last 2 years I see her, I get the chills every time. I took care of her once in the ER for a sore throat. I never told them, but I couldn't stop my heart from racing. I was really weird, I have never been affected like that before, in all of the years doing ER that is one I will never forget.
Well at work yesterday I was asked by the nurse to go draw blood and do a catheter on a girl with Kidney stones. So while getting everything ready on of the girls working with me decided to go with me. When we walked in I instantly got the chills, it was her! She is all scared up and talks slower. Terri drew the blood then left me to do the catheter. While I was standing there I closed the door and had to take a deep breath, it was really bazaar. I stopped and said to her and her mom, "Can I tell you something?" They said sure. I said that night you got into the car accident I was riding with my husband who is a police officer. Her mom instantly said "That was you! You are our angel, you saved her, we heard all about it. You were meant to be there, you saved her life! They said she wasn't breathing and you sat her up and she breathed for you. If you weren't there she wouldn't have made it. I am so excited to meet you! You are an angel!"
I explained to them that every time I see her I get the chills, while saying that I got the chills. They started laughing. At least 10 more times while talking to them I got the chills. When I finished up, I stood by the door and her mother kept telling me that I was meant to be there and that I was an angel!
It was good for me to talk to them about it, because it affected me so much. It is so great to feel appreciated for things. And I do know that I was there that day for a reason and Heavenly Father works in ways that I will never understand! I is an experience I will never forget!

Misty - I shouldn't be crying this early in the morning! You are an angel who helps many many people and I'm sure Heavenly Father placed you there to save her life! What an inspirational story...thanks so much for sharing it as I know you are very private. You are amazing and I admire you very much! Now stop making me cry!!! :o) Love ya!
I'm glad that you told them. I'm sure they've been trying to figure out all these years who you were. What a neat experience!
That's awesome.I'm sure it made you and them feel better :)
Wow, that's a really cool story! It's so sad that that happened to her, though! Dumb teenage boys, huh?!
I love that story.
I got the chills reading that! You did a great thing and were at the right place at the right time to help her. I'm sure it was great for the family to meet you after all these years! Joy
Good for people to know.
